DNS Lookup
Look up the public DNS records of any domain: A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, CNAME, SOA and CAA. Enter an IP address to do a reverse lookup.
What do the record types mean?
A / AAAA point a name to an IPv4 / IPv6 address. MX lists the mail servers that receive email, with a priority (lower number is tried first). NS shows who hosts the domain's DNS. TXT holds text such as SPF, DKIM and DMARC. CNAME is an alias to another name. SOA has the zone's admin details. CAA says which certificate authorities may issue certificates.
Handy for cold email
Check MX to confirm your mailboxes are set up, TXT for SPF, and look up _dmarc.yourdomain.com for your DMARC policy. Results come from Google Public DNS and can be cached for a few minutes after a change.
